This position is a volunteer sworn police position involving the performance of traditional and non-traditional law enforcement functions in a community involved and problem solving focused policing environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities include maintaining skills mastered in the police academy with scheduled training provided by the department, properly using a Police Taser, participating in community affairs, conducting investigations, preparing written reports, testifying professionally in court proceedings, managing traffic and investigating accidents, utilizing forensic techniques, and performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, retired or separated from a full-time police officer position in good standing with a minimum of 10 years as a sworn officer, knowledge and ability to apply the principles of sound police administration, understanding of the principles of psychology, current certification by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, good eyesight, excellent physical condition, high ethical standards, computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft office programs, fluency in English, ability to communicate in Spanish, and non-smoking status.
Applicants must complete all requirements established by the Village of Pinecrest for employment, which may include a written examination, typing test, psychological screening, polygraph examination, background investigation, and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
